We took a bus from Catania to Siracusa. The buses were frequent fast and comfortable. The bus station was a man with a computer in a bar that can hold maybe 5 people. The drivers and the station staff don’t speak English but so far we are managing with a bit of Portuguese and Spanish. Our last 2 hotels we arranged through United using our miles. Both were well located and very nice. The hotel here in Siracusa was recommended by Rick Steves. It is Residence dei Baroni, https://www.residencedeibaroni.com/ apartments and very family friendly. There is all you need if you want to cook. We went across the square to a place called ALevante. We had the best swordfish salad, containing swordfish, oranges, fennel, olives, spinach, with a citrus dressing, superb. We are here for three days before setting our sites on Palermo.
